AIIMS Delhi Scandal: Doctor On The Run After Raping Colleague

New Delhi: In a scandalous incident, a doctor attached with All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi has been absconding after allegedly raping a lady doctor.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Benita Mary Jaiker informed mediapersons that the alleged sexual assault was reported to the police on Monday.

The lady doctor has told investigators that one of her senior colleagues raped her on September 26 when they had gone to celebrate another colleague’s birthday, the police official added.

“Based on her statement, a case was registered under Sections 376 (rape) and 377 (unnatural offences) of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) at the Hauz Khas police station and investigation of the same was taken up,” Jaiker said.

The victim’s statement has been recorded before a magistrate and efforts are on to nab the accused.

Police informed that technical surveillance has been mounted to trace the doctor at the earliest.
