Sambalpur: An ailing female leopard died while undergoing treatment at Sambalpur Zoo in Odisha.
As per sources, the leopard named Rani died due to suspected uterine infection on Wednesday night. The animal was around seven-year-old.
As Rani started vomiting, the authorities swung into action to provide immediate medical attention and the animal was taken to the zoo hospital. It was administered injections.
However, her health continued to deteriorate, and she began bleeding from the mouth during treatment. Despite the best efforts of zoo officials, the leopardess died in the night.
A senior Forest department official said that the spread of infection could not be controlled and Rani died during treatment.
