New Delhi: An Air India business class flyer has been accused of urinating on fellow passengers in an inebriated state on a flight from Delhi to Bangkok.
One of the passengers released a video clip along with a long message on social media, highlighting the ordeal. In the video clip, another passenger is heard complaining to a cabin crew.
“He’s exposing himself to us. What are you guys talking about,” the unhappy passenger can be heard saying.
According to 23-year-old content creator, Shivamm Raghav, who made the post, the incident was “one of the worst flight experiences” he had. He claimed that he frequently travels on the Delhi-Bangkok route and decided to fly Air India business class to compare it with Thai Airways which he usually prefers.
While News18 has reported the matter, the authenticity of the video could not be independently verified. Air India has also remained tight-lipped on the matter.
“As a 23-year-old solo traveller living alone abroad, I’ve learned a lot about travelling over the past year, but this has to be one of the worst flight experiences of my life and easily the most disappointing business class experience I’ve ever had,” Shivamm wrote.
While the inflight service itself was acceptable, the handling of the incident deeply disturbed him, he added.
What shocked him further was that after landing, the accused individual allegedly walked out normally without any visible action being taken.
“With no visible accountability and no real sense that passenger safety was being prioritised. It made me question everything is there no
law or safety protocol to protect passengers onboard, does flying business class give someone a free pass, and is this really how such incidents are handled after passengers spend nearly $1,000 (Rs 80,000) on a one-way ticket,” he wrote.
Shivamm mentioned that the business class cabin had only eight seats arranged in a 2×2 configuration. Fortunately, there were no female passengers at the time of the incident, he noted.
“Thankfully there were no female passengers onboard, which is honestly the most disturbing part because if a woman were travelling alone and had to experience something like this, how could she ever feel safe again? Flying is supposed to be one of the safest forms of travel, but moments like this make you wonder if that’s still true, so I’m sharing this to genuinely ask has anyone else experienced something like this, how was it handled, and is this the standard we’re expected to accept now? This shouldn’t be normal,” he added while tagging the official account of Air India.
“Bhai mai yaha baitha hu, wo waha washroom se aya and he started peeing right there (Brother, I am sitting here. He came out of the washroom and started peeing right there). He peed on this guy and he even had to change his pants. What kind of people are there? Business class hai bhai ye (This is business class),” Shivamm went on to say.
The incident was not limited to one spot, he claimed. “Mai abhi washroom ho kar aya hu and I just came through that area (I just used the washroom and passed through that area). That guy has literally peed on the whole floor,” he said.
The video has since crossed over a million views and drawn strong reactions from social media users. Many criticised the airline’s handling of the situation while others focused on passenger behaviour.
One user commented, “People have gained instant money with no etiquettes at all – be it any class bro. Air India should take action and unruly travellers MUST be civilised by barring flying completely.”
