Air India Plans To Add Over 200 New Planes To Its Fleet

New Delhi: Air India, owned by Tata Group is considering buying more than 200 new planes. At least 70 per cent of them will be narrow-bodied aircraft, aviation industry sources said on Sunday. Air India has zeroed in on Airbus’s A350 wide-bodied aircraft for the procurement, the talks with Airbus and Boeing for narrow-bodied aircraft are still on, they said.

The last time Air India bought an aircraft was in 2006, when it placed orders for purchasing 111 aircraft. This included 68 from the US-based aircraft manufacturer Boeing and 43 from European aircraft manufacturer Airbus

Tata Group took control of Air India on January 27.
