New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday directed that the Unnao rape survivor and her lawyer be shifted to AIIMS in Delhi.
Doctors of King Geroge’s Medical University (KGMU), where they are being treated, issued a bulletin during the day informing that their condition is “serious but stable”.
“The condition of the rape survivor is improving. She is following command and opened eyes and understanding things,” the bulletin said.
The apex court order came after the lawyer of the family approached a bench of Justice Deepak Gupta and Aniruddha Bose and said that the mother of the victim now wants her daughter to be shifted to AIIMS for better treatment.
The victim and her lawyer were critically injured in a road accident on July 28 near Rae Bareli. The family members had blamed the rape accused and expelled BJP leader Kuldeep Singh Sengar for the accident.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s Tis Hazari court during the day ordered Sengar and co-accused Shashi Singh to be shifted to Delhi’s Tihar Jail. Both of them will be produced before the court on August 7.
