Airtel Network Down Across India; Thousands Complain Of No Signal, Call Drops & Slow Internet

Major Airtel outage

New Delhi: Thousands of Airtel users faced problems on Monday as mobile and broadband services were disrupted across India.

#AirtelDown trended on X as complaints poured in from late afternoon through the evening.

Downdetector, which monitors tech glitches, said there were over 3,600 reports of Airtel outages at around 4.30 pm on Monday — against the normal figure of less than 15.

Complaints first came from Delhi-NCR.

“Our customers from Delhi-NCR are experiencing some voice calling issues for the past hour or so. Significant part of the issue has already been resolved and our engineers are at work to resolve this fully. We deeply regret any inconvenience,” the company said in a statement.

The outage spread to Mumbai, Bengaluru, Gurugram and other cities soon after.

In a map of areas affected by the Airtel outage, Downdetector showed Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Guwahati and Madurai also in the red.

Cities in central India also faced problems, as of 6 pm.

Users took to social media, mostly the X platform, to report call drops, no signal and slow internet.

#AirtelDown trended on X as complaints poured in incessantly.

“Ported from Jio to Airtel due to internet issues, but facing even bigger problems now. Not able to use data while on calls & no proper response from customer care. Really disappointing!” complained one user.

“The phone is not getting connected on all networks in Delhi. Is this problem happening only with me or with other people in Delhi or the country too?” wrote another user.

“Voice service is down in Gurugram for last 30 mins, only internet is working, can’t make outgoing or receive incoming What is happening??” one person shared on X.

“Services are completely down. Unable to make or receive calls and even messages are not working. This is causing serious problems.. Please resolve this issue,” urged another person.

“If you are an #Airtel user, and unable to make calls, you’re not alone. Seems like a widespread outage,” commented one user.

“Connectivity of @airtelindia facing serious issues. Don’t panic if you are not able to get in touch with your loved ones. Just be patient. #Airtel #Mobile,” one person wrote.

There was a gradual decline, and by 7 pm, complaints were down to around 400. Customers have been getting messages from Airtel saying services were restored.

‘No problem with Jio network’

There were complaints from some Jio and Vodafone-Idea customers too, though much less in number than Airtel.

However, Jio clarified that its network has been operating normally throughout the day with no operational issues.

“All Jio-to-Jio calls and calls from Jio to other non-impacted networks have been working seamlessly. The only problem observed was in calls made by Jio numbers to customers of a specific impacted network, due to downtime on that network’s end. This did not affect Jio customers calling within the Jio network or connecting to any other network,” a spokesperson said.

“We assure our customers that the Jio network continues to perform optimally, and services remain fully available.”
