Ghaziabad: Bhojpuri actor-singer Samar Singh was arrested from Ghaziabad on Friday in actress Akanksha Dubey’s suicide case.
Samar, against who, UP Police had issued a Red Corner notice, was arrested from Charms Crystal Housing Society in Rajnagar.
He has been accused of abetting the suicide of Akanksha, who was his co-star.
Akanksha was found dead in a hotel room at Varanasi’s Hotel Sumendra Residency on March 26.
Akanksha’s mother Madhu Dubey has claimed that Samar used to harass her daughter which compelled her to take the extreme step.
Varanasi Police issued Red Corner notices against Samar and another Bhojpuri singer Sanjay Singh, who has also been named as an accused in the case of abetment to suicide of Akanksha.
Akanksha’s mother lodged an FIR against Samar and Sanjay under Section 306 (abetment of suicide) on March 27.
She stated in her complaint that Samar owed Akanksha over Rs 3 crore and also claimed that he used to torture her.
“Samar owed her Rs 3 crore and when Akanksha used to ask for it, Samar used to torture and thrash her. He also used to harass her whenever she tried to work with other artistes,” Madhu said in the FIR.
