Bhubaneswar: Hours after being trolled for featuring in an ad for a tobacco brand, Akshay Kumar issued an apology to his fans and announced that he would no longer be the brand ambassador of Vimal Pan Masala.
The 54-year-old actor was recently seen in the advertisement along with Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan.
In a lengthy post on social media, Akshay further said that he has decided to donate the fee he was offered to do this ad for a good cause.
Notably, the actor neither drinks nor smokes and is known for leading a healthy lifestyle.
The users also dug out an old video from 2018 where Akshay had appealed to his peers in the industry not to endorse harmful products. He said that while he has been offered several such ads, he would not resort to them as he believes in the concept of Swasth Bharat (healthy India).
