Mumbai: Is the popularity of a star directly proportional to advertisements and endorsements he/she features in?
If one were to go by TAM’s latest AdEx report (January-June 2022), the answer is in the affirmative.
Akshay Kumar, who is going strong in Bollywood even at the age of 55, is much in demand among advertisers too. He’s a favourite with different kind brands, and tops the list of most visible endorsers on television.
The man who has delivered multiple hits over the years endorses a range of products – from real estate to shoes.
His average visibility is 37 hours per day across all channels.
He is well ahead of the second and third-placed stars – the ageless Amitabh Bachchan and the hugely talented Alia Bhatt, whose visibility counts are 18 and 14 hours, respectively.
As for celebrity couples, Akshay and wife Twinkle Khanna also feature in the top three. In fact, the top three – Akshay & Twinkle, Amitabh & Jaya Bachchan and Ranbir Kapoor & Alia Bhatt – account for more than 50% of endorsements.
For the period in question (January-June 2022), film stars appear in more than 80% of TV advertisements.
