Akshay Kumar To Join Ajay Devgn’s ‘Golmaal 5’ As Villain?

Mumbai: Akshay Kumar is set to join the star cast of the Ajay Devgn-starrer comedy ‘Golmaal 5’ — but as a villain — reports suggest.

Akshay, who has delivered multiple comedy-driven hits like ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Housefull’ and ‘Welcome’, is expected to play a dark character in the film.

Adding to the star power, Kareena Kapoor Khan has also been roped in for the film, thereby giving a major boost to the laughter riot.

Kareena’s casting took time as there were dates and other issues that had to be considered, Bollywood Hungama rep

orted.

However, both director Rohit Shetty and actor Ajay Devgn were keen to have Kareena on board.

Kareena, too, wanted to return to the ‘Golmaal’ franchise.

“She got a lot of love for her antics and comic timing in ‘Golmaal 3’ (2010); it continues to be remembered even today,” a source was quoted as saying by the portal. “Another quirky and entertaining role for Kareena and hence, they tried their best to get her on board. Thankfully, it has finally happened.”

All the earlier instalments of ‘Golmaal’ franchise were very successful at the box office. Now, with Akshay’s entry and Kareena Kapoor’s reported return, the series has got a further boost, a trade expert told Bollywood Hungama.

The film will also feature Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Kemmu, along with Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Mukesh Tiwari, and Ashwini Kalsekar.

Production is expected to begin by February end at Film City in Mumbai.
