Mumbai: National Award winning actor, Akshay Kumar has joined hands with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, with a mission to spread awareness on traffic rules and road safety in view of the increase in the number of road accidents.
He launched three videos as part of the Road Safety Week campaign’s theme, ‘Sadak Suraksha Jeevan Raksha’ in the presence of Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.
The actor uploaded a series of videos depicting various situations and different kinds of defaulters and offenders of traffic rules. He took to Twitter to express concern over the matter, along with a picture of the event earlier on Tuesday.
According to reports, road accidents related deaths are one of the highest in India. “These can be prevented,” said Akshay Kumar in an Instagram post.
Following traffic rules is for the good of the people or to put in Kumar’s words, “Follow traffic rules for your own and others’ safety, kyunki road kisi ke baap ki nahi hai (the road belongs to everyone).”
In one of the videos, a person asks, “What if the road belongs to his dad?” To this Akshay says, “The father will be in trouble too.”
Apart from this, the actor has been promoting his movie ‘Gold’ releasing tomorrow. The trailer and the songs have already received accolades from the audience. As Akshay tweeted, “This story will make your chest swell with pride.”
