Bhubaneswar: The Chandan Yatra of Lord Lingaraj will commence from Tuesday, being celebrated as Akshaya Tritiya. The Chandan Yatra of Bhubaneswar’s presiding deity will continue for 22 days from this day.
The Lord and Goddess Parvati will be taken out in a decorated palanquin along with Maa Rukmini and Basudeva for ‘Chapa’ khela in Bindusagar pond.
All arrangements have been completed by the temple administration for the annual Chandan Yatra.
On Monday, Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das reviewed the preparations for the Yatra which is being celebrated after a gap of two-year COVID break.
The Chandan Yatra is also observed at Puri Jagannath Temple and other shrines across the State. As per the Hindu almanac, it begins on holy Akshaya Tritiya and continues till Chandan Purnima.
