Mumbai: After his impressive, power-packed performance in Aditya Dhar’s blockbuster spy-thriller ‘Dhurandhar’, actor Akshaye Khanna is reportedly returning for its sequel.
In part 1, Akshaye’s character Rehman Dakait had died, which left the movie buffs a little disappointed and unsure of the actor’s return in the sequel of the film.
According to Filmfare, the actor will be featuring in the sequel as the makers are planning to reveal the gangster’s backstory in ‘Dhurandhar 2’. “Our sources confirm that Akshaye Khanna will return to sets for a short one-w
eek shoot, aimed at expanding his character’s backstory and adding more layers to his role in the next chapter of the franchise,” a source was quoted as saying by the portal.
One shared, “Rehman dacait ka kasainuma backstory we want. M seated.”
Another commented, “If this is real, then fk yea baby, bring it the fk on, lekin agar fake news wali dagabaazi nikli toh…”
A third wrote, “Bas mere Akshaye Khanna sir ka screentime badha de Dhar bhaiya.”
‘Dhurandhar 2’ is slated for a grand release on March 19, 2026 on the occasion of Eid.
The sequel will be released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam languages, marking its five-language pan-India and global rollout.
Meanwhile, the Ranveer Singh starrer ‘Dhurandhar’ has already created history by collecting more than Rs 1000 crore at the box-office worldwide.
