Puri: A major mishap was averted by alert staff of a petrol pump at Penthakota on Sunday evening.
According to reports, the staff were filling petrol in a scooty when another customer came and suddenly lit a matchstick. The scooty caught fire immediately. Alert staff of the petrol pump put off the fire using extinguishers, said Prashant Paikrai, staff of the petrol pump.
A case has been registered at beach police station and investigation is on. The scooter has been seized by police. No one was injured in the incident.
