Mumbai: Two-and-a-half weeks after becoming parents to a ‘magical girl’, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor have revealed the name of their daughter.
The celebrity couple’s first born will be known as Raha, Alia shared in social media on Thursday.
The ‘Gangubhai Kathiawadi’ actress posted a picture of the proud parents holding their baby (seen partially) with the name ‘Raha’ printed on a baby dress. Along with the picture in Instagram, Alia explained what ‘Raha’ means, and who named their little princess.
“The name Raha (chosen by her wise and wonderful Dadi) has so many beautiful meanings… Raha, in its purest form means divine path.. in Swahili she is Joy, in Sanskrit Raha is a clan, in Bangla – rest, comfort, relief… in Arabic peace… it also means happiness, freedom & bliss. And true to her name, from the first moment we held her – we felt it ALL! Thank you Raha, for bringing our family to life, it feels as though our lives have only just begun,” Alia wrote.
Alia and Ranbir got married in April, after dating for about five years. The couple announced Alia’s pregnancy in June, and was blessed with a daughter on November 6.
Alia and Ranbir started dating on the sets of ‘Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva’ around 2017. It was the first film – and only one so far – that the duo co-starred in. Ayan Mukerji’s fantasy action-adventure film was finally released in September 2022.
