All Fire Stations In Puri Told To Remain On High Alert During Rath Yatra

Bhubaneswar: All Fire Stations in Odisha’s Puri district have been directed to remain on high alert during entire period of Rath Yatra.

Director General of Police (DGP), Fire Services Santosh Kumar Upadhyay issued the direction while reviewing the preparations of the department for the car festival at meeting a meeting in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday. He said the Fire personnel will attend any natural calamities during the festival in addition to their routine duties.

Director General of Police, Fire Services Santosh Kumar Upadhaya, IPS reviewed the Car Festival arrangement on behalf of Odisha Fire Service organization on 15.06.2022 at Odisha Fire and Disaster Response Academy, Baramunda, Bhubaneswar.

The review meeting was attended by the senior officers Chief Fire Officer(SAG), Chief Fire Officer Odisha, Cuttack, Fire Officer(Principal), OFDRA , Bhubaneswar, Fire Officer(Principal), OSWALI, Puri and Asst. Fire Officer, Puri Fire Station, Puri.

He said the approach of the Fire personnel should be people friendly and timely attendance to any unforeseen situation pertaining to rescue and accidental fire. He emphasised on having arrangements looking into minimum interference of pilgrims and providing maximum satisfaction while rendering public services.

Appreciating the role of Fire personnel who were deployed during Snana Purnima celebration at Puri, Upadhyay instructed senior officials of Fire Services to coordinate with other organisations like ODRAF, NDRF, district magistrate, additional district magistrate, Railways, Indian Coast Guard, State Police and line departments during Rath Yatra to ensure people’s safety and security.

He said two Quick Response Units will be deployed at Pipili bypass chowk and Konark to attend to mishaps and unforeseen situation.

All Fire Stations of Puri district will be equipped with combitools. During the Rath Yatra, 21 Fire Tenders (Motor Fire Engine), 3 Water Tenders, one crane, one rescue tender with advance equipment, 9 Quick Response Units, 3 Fire Ambulances, 3 Mist Bikes with adequate fire pumps and power boats will be pressed in to public service.
