Bhubaneswar: The 68th All India Police Hockey Championship-2019 will begin at Kalinga Stadium here from Monday.
The nine-day event, which will concluded on December 24, is hosted by the Odisha Police under the aegis of the All India Police Sports Control Board with the technical manpower and material support from Odisha Sports and Youth Services department and logistics and technical support by the Odisha Hockey Association.
The Mascot for the Asian Athletic Championship and World Cup Hockey “Olly” representing the rare Olive Ridley Turtle, was unveiled by the Director General of Police (DGP) and chairman of the Organising Committee Abhay at a function here on Sunday.
The DGP called upon all the officers to work with sincerity to make the event a grand success.
Talking to the media, IG, Central Range, Soumendra Priyadarshi said 25 teams comprising 500 players, 200 officials and trainers from the police organisations of different states, Union Territories and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) will participate in this event the opening ceremony of which will begin at 9 am at the 7th OSAP Battalion Ground tomorrow.
Stating that 50 technical officers have been roped in to conduct the championship, he said separate committees have been formed for better coordination and management of the event. Apart from this, arrangements have been made for the accommodation of the players and officials at different locations in Bhubaneswar.
