Rourkela: In order to meet the target of operating direct flight services from Rourkela to Bhubaneswar before the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup, the Alliance Air carried out trial run of a flight on Friday.
According to sources, an ATR-72 aircraft of Alliance Air landed at Rourkela Airport at 3.20 pm and took off for Bhubaneswar at 3.45 pm. The Alliance Air will operate ATR-72 aircraft between the two cities on daily basis from January 7, 2023, the sources said.
The flight on the first day will either take off from Rourkela Airport or Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar. The online booking in the flight will begin in a couple of days, the sources added.
The matches of Hockey World Cup will be played at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar and Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela from January 13.
Earlier, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has granted licence to the Rourkela Airport to operate commercial flights.
