New Delhi: In a big jolt to the INDIA Bloc ahead of the crucial Delhi elections, the Aam Adami Party (AAP) said it would consult other parties of the Opposition alliance to remove the Congress from it, according to reports. This comes as the AAP is upset with the Congress after it filed a complaint against Arvind Kejriwal accusing him of ‘misleading and deceiving’ the public promising of ‘non-existent’ welfare schemes.
The complaint against Kejriwal was lodged by the Youth Congress after two Delhi departments released public notices mentioning that the proposed Mahila Samman Yojana and the Sanjeevani Yojana were not notified by the government and hence were ‘non-existent.’
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh slammed Ajay Maken for allegedly calling Kejriwal ‘anti-national.’ The AAP MP also urged Congress to take action against Maken within 24 hours. Singh made this statement with Chief Minister Atishi by his side at a press conference. He alleged that the Congress was “doing everything” to help the BJP win the Delhi elections.
Recently, Ajay Maken had remarked that the Congress’ decision to support the AAP in 2013 led to its decline in Delhi. This has further strained the relationship between AAP and the Congress.
Atishi claimed that the BJP had borne the election expenditures of Congress candidates, including that of Sandeep Dixit.
“Congress’s action makes it clear that the party has made some arrangements with the BJP for the Delhi elections. The BJP is funding Congress candidates. We have heard that Sandeep Dikshit is getting funded by the BJP,” Atishi said.
Alleging a mutual understanding between the Congress and the BJP, the Delhi Chief Minister further asked that if Congress thought that her party was anti-national, then why did they contest the Lok Sabha elections in alliance with the AAP?.
