Allu Arjun’s Arrest: Don’t Blame Police As Law Is Equal For All, Says Andhra Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan

Hyderabad: There seems to be no respite for Allu Arjun.

The ‘Pushpa 2’ star, under fire over the Sandhya theatre stampede earlier this month, has now got a lecture from Andhra Pradesh’s deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan.

“The law is equal for everyone,” Kalyan, a former actor himself, said about Allu’s arrest after a woman named Revathi was killed and her son seriously injured in a fan frenzy to catch a glimpse of the actor during a premier show.

“I don’t blame the police in such incidents because they think about security first,” Kalyan said.

The reason behind the stampede was clear. “People show love and support for film heroes. When they know a hero is coming, the fans are naturally excited,” the deputy CM remarked.

But according to Kalyan, the matter “could have been resolved easily” but instead a “huge disaster happened.”

The actor-turned-politician recalled how his brother, actor Chiranjeevi, would go to the theatre incognito. “Chiranjeevi used to go to the theatre alone wearing a mask. There were times when I went like that, too,” Kalyan revealed, perhaps hinting what Allu could have done to prevent such a mishap.

“Revathi’s death in this incident disturbed me,” said Kalyan.

Kalyan felt the staff of Sandhya theatre should have told Allu Arjun about the incident after he went and sat down.

“It would have been better if someone had gone to the victims’ house on behalf of Allu Arjun,” Kalyan added, saying that even Allu feels the pain of the tragedy.

Allu, who was arrested on the morning of December 13 for his role in the stampede, was granted interim bail by the Telengana High Court the same evening, but his release was delayed till next morning due to technicalities.
