Mumbai: Weeks after reports of her separation made headlines, actress Mouni Roy opened up about speculation surrounding her personal life, including rumours about her sexual orientation.
Mouni, who recently garnered attention for her appearance at Cannes 2026, was asked to share the most bizarre rumour she had heard about herself.
“Oh, that I am gay,” Mouni replied promptly during a recent
conversation with Monika Sharma on her YouTube channel.
Reflecting on the difficult period following her separation, Mouni said she was fortunate to be surrounded by a strong support system and expressed gratitude for the constant encouragement she received from her family and close friends.
“I feel very lucky that I have always had friends and family who have stood by me like a rock,” she said.
Giving special credit to her close female friends, she added, “I have always had great girlfriends to support me. They have been there through my good, bad and ugly phases. It is very important to have women like that in your life — the ones who uplift you. My girlfriends are the best. Girls today should focus on financial and emotional stability. You have to be emotionally and financially independent.”
Looking back on her journey, Mouni described life as a roller-coaster filled with both rewarding moments and significant challenges.
Mouni and Suraj officially confirmed their separation through a joint statement last month.
