Ama Bus Crash In Bhubaneswar: CRUT Declares Rs 2L For Kin Of Deceased; Driver Held



Bhubaneswar: The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) issued a clarification regarding the Ama Bus accident at Rupali Square in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Ama Bus involved in the accident was arrested. The 55-year-old bus driver has been arrested under culpable homicide section (105) of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, sources said.

CRUT announced an ex-gratia assistance of Rs two lakh for the family of the deceased auto-rickshaw driver. On the other hand, injured passengers will be provided compensation of Rs 50,000 each.

nsation to the deceased auto-rickshaw driver will be paid as per legal provisions. CRUT also stated that necessary preventive measures will be taken in the future to avoid such accidents.

“CRUT expresses its deep condolences to the bereaved family and reiterates its commitment to extending all possible support. The organisation assures that necessary corrective and preventive measures are being reviewed and will be strengthened to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in future,” CRUT said in its clarification.

“In accordance with the CRUT Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), an amount of Rs. 2, 00,000 will be provided as immediate relief to the family of the deceased, and the injured victim shall be compensated Rs 50,000,” the notification further read.

Along with the above immediate support, CRUT officials are also in touch with other concerned Government departments to further facilitate compensation to the next of kin of the deceased auto rickshaw driver, it said.
