Bhubaneswar: The Ama Gaon Ama Bikas programme, launched by the Odisha government on March 5 this year on the birth anniversary of former chief minister Biju Patnaik at the panchayat level, was extended to the block level on Wednesday.
Addressing the block representatives on the occasion through video conferencing at the State Secretariat here, chief minister Naveen Patnaik said his government, in its effort to make Odisha as the number one state in the country, has given top priority to the development of the village.
He said his government has laid much emphasis on transparency, teamwork and technology for the development of the state.
He called on the block representatives to work with dedication, determination and devotion to expedite the process of development.
On the occasion, the chief minister sanctioned Rs 29.50 crore for 108 panchayats of four blocks in four districts.
Of the total sanctioned amount, Rs 8.12 crore has been earmarked for 32 panchayats of Rangeilunda block in Ganjam district, Rs 4.38 crore for 15 panchayats of Lamtaput block in Koraput district, Rs 9 crore for 36 panchayats of Chandbali block in Bhadrak district and Rs 8 crore for 25 panchayats of Sadar block in Jajpur district.
