Jammu: Due to bad weather condition, the annual Amarnath Yatra remained suspended for the third consecutive day on Friday. Pilgrims were not permitted to move from Jammu towards the shrine’s Baltal and Pahalgam base camps in the Kashmir valley.
The final date for starting the yatra again will be declared after a review, sources said. Around 30,000 pilgrims are presently stuck at different places including the two base camps, transit camps and in Jammu’s Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas.
Three pilgrims died on July 3 on their way to Amarnath due to various causes. Two deceased persons are from Andhra Pradesh and one from Uttarakhand. The number of dead in this year’s yatra is six.
A 75-year-old woman Thota Radhnam from Fiwalayam in Andhra Pradesh died of suspected cardiac arrest. Radha Krishna Sastry (65), hailing from Anantpora in Andhra Pradesh, also died due to cardiac arrest at Sangam near the holy cave, sources said.
Pushkar Joshi, a resident of Uttarakhand, who was injured due to a shooting stone between Brarimarg and Railpathri, succumbed at a hospital in Srinagar.
This year’s pilgrimage started on June 28.
