Bhubaneswar: The 127th birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar was
celebrated across the state on Saturday.
Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram accompanied by intellectuals and government officials garlanded the statue of Dr Ambedkar at Udit Nagar in Rourkela of Sundargarh district.
On the occasion, Oram said, “Ambedkar’s contributions towards
upliftment of the poor and downtrodden people are matchless.”
Similarly, people from different social organisations and local
residents attended an impressive function held at Sanskruti Bhawan in Khurda and threw light on Dr Ambedkar’s contribution to the nation.
In Bhubaneswar, members of Odisha Adivasi Adhikar Manch garlanded the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar at AG Square and lauded the provisions made by Ambedkar in the Constitution for protection of the rights of backward classes.
