Cuttack: An ambulance carrying corona positive patients overturned at OMP Square here on Thursday evening.
According to sources, the accident took place when the patients belonging to one family of Katiketa area in Jajpur district were being brought to a COVID hospital in Bhubaneswar. The vehicle overturned on hitting the divider after the driver reportedly dozed off for a split second.
On being informed, the Chauliaganj police reached the spot and rescued the patients..While the driver, who sustained minor injuries, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, another ambulance was arranged to shift the patients to Bhubaneswar.
The accident spot was later sealed and sanitised along with the ill-fated vehicle.
Five ambulances were reportedly enroute Bhubaneswar from Jajpur, where 17 people tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours, the sources added.
