Kendrapara: In a friek mishap, an 108 ambulance caught fire at Mahipal Chhak here Monday.
According to sources, the ambulance was coming back from Cuttack after dropping a patient at the hospital. When the vehicle reached Mahipal Chhak, the alert driver of the ambulance suddenly noticed smoke emanating from under his seat and jumped out of the vehicle.
A battery short-circuit is said to be the possible reason for the fire. The fire was doused with help of locals.
