Puri: The Odisha government will take the final decision on reopening of ‘Ratna Bhandar’ of Jagnnath Temple in Odisha’s Puri town, said Orissa High Court appointed amicus curiae NK Mohanty on Saturday.
Speaking to media persons after attending a review meeting on conservation work of the temple, Mohanty said the issue of repair of Ratna Bhandar is likely to be discussed during a meeting of the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee scheduled to be held on September 27. The decision taken at the meeting will be forwarded to the government to take a decision, he added.
Mohanty reviewed the conservation work of Jagannath Temple at the meeting held in Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) office. It was attended by SJTA Development Administrator Ajay Jena, Superintendent, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Odisha Circle Arun Mallik and Core Committee Chairman NC Pal. The amicus curiae will be submit his report to the High Court within eight days.
It was revealed at the meeting that special plans would be prepared for repair of ‘Jagamohan’, ‘Nata Mandap’ and ‘Roshaghara’ of the temple.
“Cracks have been noticed in two pockets of the ‘Nata Mandap’. Repair work of the cracks will be taken up soon and completed by March next year,” Mohanty said.
Expert committee member NC Pal said they held a detailed discussion on how to carry out repair work inside the ‘Nata Mandap’ and outside of the ‘Jagamohan’. A blueprint will be prepared for repair of the floor of the ‘Roshaghara’ and a few places of the Jagamohan in two-three months, he added.
