Amid Controversies, Kangana Rises From Political Jargons To BJP’s Poster Girl

Bhubaneswar: Even as the nation has been speculating over Kangana Ranaut’s political leanings, a poster emerged on social media on Wednesday suggesting that the Bollywood actress could be promoted to BJP’s ‘poster girl’ and made the face of political manoeuvring in Maharashtra.

Close on the heels of Kangana’s recent outbursts against Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, the significance of Kangana’s poster with BJP can’t be undermined.

Last week, the BMC welcomed Kangana’s arrival in Mumbai by demolishing a part of her office premise for illegal construction. Although the demolition work was stopped following the high court’s order, the drama is far from over.

Kangana’s choice of words against Uddhav and Shiv Sena smacks of political jargon. When she called Shiv Sena ‘Sonia Sena’ or spoke about her office as Ram Mandir and referred to them as Babar, many were convinced that she was talking BJP’s language.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena MLAs Pratap Sarnaik and Suresh Prabhu demanded in the state Assembly that she undergoes a drug test after an old interview surfaced where actor Adhyayan Suman claims that Kangana took drugs. Home minister Anil Deshmukh agreed and issued an order.

The Central government then provided Kangana with Y-plus security, tasking 11 Central Reserve Police Force commandos to protect her.

The buzz that she and the rest of her family were set to join BJP got stronger after a video emerged of Kangana’s mother Asha Ranaut thanking PM Narendra Modi and Union Minister Amit Shah. The BJP unit of Himachal Pradesh, Kangana’s native state, said Asha has not officially joined the party, made statements supporting the BJP.

Kangana, in a series of tweets, not only admitted that BJP had approached her to join the party but also revealed that she had turned down two tickets, simply because she is ‘Kangana Ranaut.’

After reports claimed that the ruling NDA government in Bihar may rope in the Bollywood actress to campaign for the upcoming assembly elections due in October-November, senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis dismissed the suggestion, stating that the Prime Minister was their biggest campaigner.

The ‘Manikarnika’ actress on Monday took to her Twitter handle to announce that she was leaving Mumbai after being terrorized.

This move can be interpreted in two ways — it’s either a transition from Bollywood’s tinsel town to her peaceful Himalayan hideaway or backing off from the political controversies for the time being.
