Amid Divorce Rumours, Govinda’s Manager Confirms ‘Issues’ Between The Couple

Mumbai: After enjoying 38 years of marital bliss, Bollywood actor Govinda and wife Sunita Ahuja have fallen out of love and are apparently heading for a divorce.

A source told ETimes that “Sunita had sent a separation notice a few months ago but there has been no movement since then.”

Addressing the separation reports, Govinda’s manager Shashi Sinha divulged that all is not well between the couple due to some remarks made by their family members.

“There have been issues between the couple due to certain statements made by certain members from the family. There is nothing more to it and Govinda is in process of starting a film for which artists are visiting our office. We are trying to resolve it,” Shahsi told ETimes on Tuesday.

During an interview with Pinkvilla in January, Sunita shared that they are living separately from quite a long time.

“We have two houses, we have a bungalow opposite our apartment. I have my temple and my kids in the flat. We live in the flat whereas he gets late after his meetings. He loves talking so he’ll gather 10 people and sit chatting with them. Whereas me, my son and my daughter live together, but we hardly talk because I feel you end up wasting your energy by talking too much,” Sunita told Pinkvilla’s Hindi Rush.

Meanwhile, Govinda refrained from commenting on the divorce rumours, but only said that he is currently occupied with filmmaking.

When HT City reached out to Govinda’s nephew, actor-comedian Krushna Abhishek, he said, “This is not possible. They won’t divorce.”

Addressing the divorce rumours as ‘baseless gossips’, the actor’s niece Arti Singh told News18, “I am honestly not in Mumbai right now, so I haven’t been in touch with anybody. But let me tell you something—this is false news. These are just speculations because their bond is so strong. They have built a strong and loving relationship over the years, so how can they get divorced? I don’t know where people get all these rumours from—completely untrue. People should refrain from spreading misinformation about their personal lives. In fact, news about my divorce had also surfaced for no reason. Such baseless gossip only creates unnecessary stress.”

Govinda and Sunita got married on March 11, 1987, and are parents to daughter Tina Ahuja and son Yashvardan Ahuja.
