Bhubaneswar: With Odisha experiencing an early summer, the day temperature soared above 37 degree Celsius in at least ten places in the state on Sunday.
Amid rising temperatures in most areas, Boudh turned out to be the hottest place recording 38.2°C during the day, according to weather scientist Umashankar Dash.
Boudh was closely followed by Balangir which recorded a scorching 38.1°C. While Angul recorded 37.9°C, the temperature in Titilagarh stood at 37.6°C, and Bhadrak and Jharsuguda at 37.5°C. Jajpur recorded 37.2°C, while Baripada, Sonepur, and Bhawanipatna all saw temperatures of 37°C.
In state capital Bhubaneswar, the day temperature shot up to 36.1°C, while Cuttack experienced a relatively cooler temperature of 34.2°C.
The heat wave is expected to continue over the next few days, with residents advised to take necessary precautions to stay safe.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that there will be no significant change in the maximum (day) or minimum (night) temperatures over the next 4-5 days in Odisha.
