Amid Huge Rush For Subhadra Yojana, Odisha Govt Says There Is No Deadline For Registration, Opens Call Centre

Bhubaneswar: Amid huge rush for submission of application for Subhadra Yojana, the Odisha government on Wednesday announced that there no deadline for the registration process for the scheme.

While large crowds were witnessed since morning at several post offices and other centres to update Aadhaar for the ambitious scheme, huge rush was also seen Jana Seve Kendras and other places for submission of application forms. The of submission of forms for the scheme began on Wednesday.

The state government made it clear that there is no need to hurry as no deadline has been fixed for the registration process for Subhadra Yojana.

In another significant step to help applicants, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida inaugurated a call centre for Subhadra yojana where people can get their queries cleared. Over 20,000 to 22,000 calls are being received and already 1.50 lakh calls have been received so far seeking clarification regarding the scheme, Parida, who is holding Women and Child Development portfolio, told reporters.

Many people still have doubts about the process of applying and the call centre will be helpful to clear their confusion, she said, adding that 180 people have been deployed and the centre is functioning in three shifts. Call centre strength will be enhanced by September 17 as it will be functional till the last person is enrolled, the Deputy CM said.

Regarding heavy rush for Aadhaar update, Parida clarified that applicants are required to provide their Aadhaar numbers and there is no need to submit hard copies while submitting Subhadra scheme application.

The Minister said there is no need to rush as money will be provided to all eligible beneficiaries as there is no deadline to complete the registration process. Even people, who will complete the registration process after September 17, will get financial assistance. Forms will be accepted till the last eligible beneficiary is enrolled, the Deputy CM said.

Can One Apply From Home ?

Clearing the air about whether an applicant can apply online, Common Service Centre (CSC) head Dilip Dash said no applicant can apply online from their home. The portal for registration is going to open today.

As no deadline has been announced for submission of forms, people need not crowd Jana Seva Kendras unnecessarily. Forms are available with Anganwadi workers and Jana Seva Kendras. During registration, the applicants need to bring their Aadhaar card which will be verified. No one will take a copy of the Aadhaar card and it will be returned after verification, he said.

Officials said that Aadhaar authentication can be done through four modes – Iris, fingerprint, mobile-based OTP and face authentication and people should not unnecessarily crowd Aadhaar centres to update their mobile number.
