Bhubaneswar: Even as temperature across Odisha continued to rise considerably, the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar on Saturday said that some parts of the state are likely to experience rain in the first week of January.
Some parts of the state are expected to experience light rain towards the end of the first week of January, the MeT Centre posted on X.
Amid gradual rise in temperature across the state, Koraput remained the coldest place recording 7.5 degree Celsius, while Daringbadi in Kandhamal district closely followed at 8.5 degree Celsius. Elsewhere in the state, the night temperature stood above 10 degree Celsius.
The MeT centre stated that the temperature in most parts of the state stood 2 to 4 degree above normal and the impact of cold got reduced considerably.
At least ten places in the state, including Sambalpur, Sundargagh, Phulbani, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, recorded temperatures above normal.
While Bhubaneswar recorded the minimum temperature of 16.2 degree Celsius (2 degree above normal), the night temperature stood at 16 degree Celsius in Cuttack (also 2 degree above normal).
As the mercury started rising, many parts of the state were enveloped by dense fog, disrupting normal life and vehicular movement on Saturday morning.
Dense fog was experienced in places like Phulbani, Nayagarh, Koraput, Rourkela and Sonepur with visibility level getting reduced to around 50 metres.
