Amid Soaring Temperature, Sambalpur Gears Up For Possible Heat Stroke
Sambalpur: With Odisha’s Sambalpur virtually turning into a boiling cauldron amid soaring temperature, the district administration geared up to deal with possible heat stroke by making necessary arrangements.
Sambalpur, which was the hottest place in the state on Monday recording 46.1 degree Celsius, continued to sizzled under sweltering heat. The maximum temperature in Sambalpur stood at 44 degree by 2.30 pm on Tuesday.
In view of the grueling heatwave, heat stroke rooms have been kept ready in every hospital across the district. These places are equipped with airconditioners, ORS and other necessities, while doctors are available all the time, said Sambalpur Collector Ananya Das.
Stating that the district administration has launched an awareness drive about heatwave, she said necessary information are being provided to the people who are advised to refrain from moving out of house during the day unless it is very urgent.
While water kiosks have been installed in many places, contractors engaged by different departments have been asked not to engage workers when the temperature is very high.
The situation is under control and no heat strone case has been reported in the district so far this summer, Das added.
