Amit Shah Gone Mad, Should Quit Politics, Says Lalu Prasad Yadav On Union Min’s Ambedkar Remark Row

New Delhi: Amid the controversy sparked over Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on Dr BR Ambedkar, Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Thursday said the former had gone mad, and should give up politics and resign.

While replying to the Constitution debate in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, Shah had said it had become a ‘fashion’ for the Congress to take Ambedkar’s name.

“Amit Shah has gone mad. He must have hatred for Babasaheb Ambedkar. We condemn his madness. Babasaheb Ambedkar is great. He should resign from politics and leave,” Lalu Yadav said, as quoted by ANI.

Earlier, former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav accused Shah and the BJP of being ‘anti-constitution.’ He also accused Shah of spreading hatred.

“Babasaheb Ambedkar is our fashion and passion. He is also our motivation and inspiration. We will not let anyone insult Babasaheb Ambedkar. These people are anti-constitution who spread hatred, and the language used in Parliament is condemnable,” Yadav told ANI.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Manickam Tagore had moved an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, seeking an apology from Amit Shah. “Abhi ek fashion ho gaya hai – Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar. The Congress accused Shah of disrespecting Ambedkar and its party president Mallikarjun Kharge demanded his resignation and public apology. Congress and other opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, protested in the Parliament holding photographs of Ambedkar.
