Puri: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday visited the Jagannath Temple in Puri to offer prayers to the sibling deities.
The Union Home Minister reached the 11th century shrine this morning accompanied by Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Union MSME Minister Pratap Sarangi and BJP national vice=president and spokesperson Baijayant Panda. He had travelled to the Pilgrim Town the previous evening.
Apart from them, BJP state in-charge Arun Singh and BJP state president Samir Mohanty also offered prayers at the temple.
He is scheduled to visit the Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar later in the day.
Shah is on a two-day visit to Odisha. He had chaired the Eastern Zonal Council meeting on Friday. Thereafter, he had lunch at Naveen Niwas with Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik and his West Bengal and Bihar counterparts, Mamata Banerjee and Nitish Kumar. Naveen had treated him to authentic Odia cuisine and dessert.
The Union Home Minister has also addressed a public rally on CAA at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar that evening.
