Mumbai: A poignant moment was followed by a touching gesture on the latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) 16.

After winning the Fastest Finger First round in the Amitabh Bachchan-hosted show, an emotional Jayanta Duley embraced his sister and revealed his dream of building a bathroom for his mother and sister.

Big B commended the West Bengal’s youth’s efforts to enhance sanitation in his village and promised to bear the expense of construction a toilet at his home.

Jayanta, a 25-year-old student and part-time tutor from Agai village brought tears to everyone’s eyes when he said: “Meri mummy ko toh aadat ho gaya hai par meri choti behen jab talabo mein nahati hai toh bahut sharamindagi hoti hai ki uska bada bhai ho kar mai uske liye kuch nahi kar sakta (My mother has gotten used to it, but my younger sister feels very embarrassed when she has to bathe in a pond, knowing that her older brother hasn’t done anything to help her).”

Amitabh was shocked and moved by what Jayanta said.

“Jayanta, aapki baat sun kar dukh hota hai, ashcharya bhi hota hai ki humare Bharatvarsh mein kuch sthaan aise bhi hai vahan par jo aam suvidhaaye hai sabke liye vo nahi hai (Jayanta, hearing your words is both distressing and astonishing that in our Bharat, there are places where basic amenities are not available to everyone).”

He went on to say: “Lekin jo baat aapne kahi ki aapki behen or mata ji ko khule mei nahana padta hai, ye bahut hi dardnaak baat hai, sharamnaak bhi hai. (But what you said about your sister and mother having to bathe in the open, it’s a very painful and shameful matter.)”

The 81-year-old actor then asked Jayanta what will be the approximate cost of constructing a toilet.

“40-50 hazaar mein ho jayega (approximately 40-50 thousand),” the contestant replied.

“Toh bhaishaab aaj yahan se nishchint ho kar jayega kyuki aap bhale hi kitna hi jeete ya na jeete. Hum apni or se dekhenge ki kam se kam aapke ghar mein ek shouchalya aavashya banwaaye. (So, brother, you can leave here today with peace of mind, whether you win or not. We will ensure that at least a toilet is built in your home).”

KBC 16 airs on Sony TV and streams live on SonyLIV from Monday to Friday.
