Puri: The holy flag atop Jagannath temple in Puri was reportedly blown away from the mast on Monday afternoon creating apprehension among people about coming days due to approaching cyclone Amphan.
The holy town experienced windy and overcast sky since morning apparently with the effect of approaching cyclone Amphan. At around 2.30 pm, some local people claimed to have seen the Patitapaban Bana (the holy flag) blown away by a strong wind lending the temple’s mast flagless.
The incident created a panic among the locals of Puri who had sustained heavy loss due to the cyclone Fani which battered the areas around the town recently.
However, the servitors tied a new flag to the mast of the temple. There was no disruption in the daily rituals of the deities due to the incident.
