Anganwadi Supervisor In Odisha Caught Taking Rs 50K Bribe

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Thursday apprehended Anganwadi Supervisor of Koraput’s Laxmipur block, Renuka Pattanaik, while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.

According to a Vigilance release, she had demanded the illegal gratification from a new Anganwadi worker, who recently joined the centre, while threatening to hamper her work. “Unable to meet the exorbitant bribe demand, she reported the matter to Vigilance authorities, following a case was registered and a trap was laid to apprehend the Anganwadi Supervisor.”

The entire bribe money was recovered from her and seized. Simultaneous searches are also being conducted at three locations linked to Pattnaik to ascertain whether she has accumulated assets disproportionate to her known sources of income, it added.
