Anganwadi Worker Injured In Sword Attack In Odisha’s Banki

Cuttack: An Anganwadi worker was critically injured in a sword attack at Chari Chhak on Nuagaon-Khajuripada road near Banki in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Monday morning.

The victim has been identified as Bharti Jena, a resident of Anuari village under Banki tehsil.

According to sources, the incident occurred when Bharti was waylaid by some miscreants with the motive to rob her while she was on her way to the Anganwadi centre on a scooter. They attacked her with sword. Though critically injured, Bharati survived as she was wearing a helmet.

She was rescued by locals her in critical condition and admitted her to a nearby hospital. She was later shifted to the district headquarters hospital in Khurda as her condition deteriorated.
