Bhubaneswar: Thousands of anganwadi workers and helpers staged a mass demonstration at Mahatma Gandhi Marg here on Thursday seeking immediate fulfillment of their demands.
Holding placards and banners, the protestors under the banner of All India Trade Union Congress shouted anti-government slogans.
“The demands of anganwadi workers need to be urgently addressed as they play a pivotal role in providing supplementary nutrition and preschool education to children. The state government should take immediate steps to provide a minimum monthly wage of Rs 18,000 to all anganwadi workers engaged across Odisha, failing which, an indefinite strike will be launched in the days to come,” an agitator said.
