Jagatsinghpur: Scores of Anganwadi workers took to the streets on Tuesday to press for their 12-point charter of demands, including salary hike.
Shouting anti-governments, the agitators under the banner of Jagatsinghpur District Ladies Anganwadi Workers’ Union, staged separate demonstrations before the offices of Women and Child Department in eight blocks of the district.
“Our major demands include minimum monthly salary of Rs 18,000, extension of provident fund facilities, all benefits given to the government employees and upgrading all mini Anganwadi centes to full-fledged ones. We will continue our agitation until and unless the state government considers our legitimate demands”, one of the protestors said.
