Berhampur: Anganwadi workers of Ganjam district have threatened to resort to indefinite dharna in front of the Collectorate from June 17 in support of their demand for immediate withdrawal of the order of the district administration to supply eggs to the Anganwadi centers by the self help groups (SHG).
The Anganwadi workers said the district administration direction violates the standing order of the state government. “We were providing cooked food, eggs, chatua and other things to the pre-school students, pregnant women from the beginning as per the government order. Some influential people, who have formed SHGs, are trying to supply eggs for their business interest,” they alleged.
The government has closed all Anganwadi centers from March 15 to June 30 to in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.
