Road Blockade After Oil Tanker Driver Found Dead

Angul: A mob of around 50 people staged a road blockade at Katada under Jarpada police limits on National Highway-55 in Angul district after the body of a driver of an oil tanker was recovered from the vehicle’s cabin on Saturday morning.

Owing to the blockade, vehicular movement between the road connecting Sambalpur and Cuttack was disrupted for a couple of hours.

Receiving information regarding the incident, police reached the spot, seized the body and pacified the locals who demanded that the deceased driver identified as Gyanendra Dehuri, a resident of Durgapur village, has been murdered and then dumped inside the cabin of the tanker.

Police assured the agitators that a thorough inquiry will be conducted to ascertain the death after receiving the post mortem report of the deceased.
