Two Maoists Give Up Arms In Odisha’s Angul

Angul: Two Maoists, including a woman cadre, surrendered before police in Angul on Sunday. They were identified as Sukuram Purty and Khushbu Jarai of Jharkhand.

The duo was carrying a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh each on their head.

“The Maoists had managed to escape on seven to eight occasions in
the recent past. They decided to surrender and return to
the social mainstream citing discrimination by the members of the
outlawed outfit,” Angul SP Brijesh Kumar Rai informed.

The surrendered Maoists would get financial assistance as per the
surrender and rehabilitation policy of the government, Rai added.
