Puri: The annual bird census was conducted in Chilika Lake on Sunday.
The census started from 5 am in the morning in five ranges – Balugaan, Tangi, Chilika, Rambha and Satapada till 12 pm. The counting was carried out by 150 enumerators grouped into 21 teams.
The result will be announced in the evening.
Last year, there was an increase in the migratory birds to the lake.
According to sources, around 140 bird species flew down to Mangalajodi this year.
