Bhubaneswar: The annual Class X and XI examinations conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) began across the country including Odisha on Monday.
Out of a total of 16,38,428 students across the country appearing in the class X examinations, about 17,000 students are from Odisha.
In class XII examinations, there are a total of 11,86,306 students all over the country of which more than 14,000 students are from Odisha.
In Bhubaneswar zone comprising Odisha, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh, a total of 77,708 class X students of 927 high schools are appearing in the examinations in 228 centres while a total of 66,367 class XII students of 675 high schools are appearing in the examinations in 219 centres.
The Class X and XIII examinations which began at 10.30 AM will end at 1.30 PM.
The Class X and XII examinations would conclude on April 4 and 12 respectively.
For smooth conduct of the examinations, CBSE has engaged one superintendent for each centre while in some centres deputy superintendents have been engaged.
To curb malpractice, instructions have been given to all superintendents and deputy superintends to conduct a thorough checking of the students at the main gate of the centre before they are allowed to enter the examination hall.
