Cuttack/Bhubaneswar: The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) on Thursday formed a three-tier special squad to curb malpractice in the annual High School Certificate (HSC) examinations beginning from February 23.
In a statement to the media in Cuttack, BSE president Jahan Ara Begum said of the three-tier squad, one has been formed at the district level under the District Education Officer (DEO), the second squad has been formed by the BSE while the third squad has been by the School and Mass Education Department comprising of its officers.
The Board has formed 37 special squads with two members in each squad while 58 district level squads have been formed the DEO.
“Apart from this, the Collectors and SPs have been asked to make surprise visit to the examination centres at their respective districts,” she added.
In this connection, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi had a videoconferencing with all district Collectors and SPs at the State Secretariat in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
Briefing media persons after the videoconferencing, Padhi said the Collectors and SP have been asked to take necessary steps for smooth conduct of the examinations. Apart from making special security arrangements at all nodal centres, examination centres and evaluation centres, they have been asked to take necessary steps to curb malpractice, he added.
Around 5,90,330 students including 5,67,254 regular students will appear in the annual HSC examinations in 2,818 centres across the state which will conclude on March 8/
In a bid to curb malpractice, the School and Mass Education Department this year has asked the BSE to make special provisions for the students to appear in the examinations at other examination centres instead of appearing in their own schools.
