Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has set an all-time record in annual recruitment to government posts in 2022-23.
This was revealed in the annual report of the OPSC for 2022-23 which was presented by the Commission chairman, Satyajit Mohanty, to Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal at Raj Bhavan on Monday.
During the year, the OPSC recommended 3718 candidates for appointment in Group-A & Group-B services, setting a record for any given recruitment year.
In the process, the Commission also completed all recruitment commitments as notified in the recruitment calendar. It plans to handle recruitment to more than 5000 vacancies in various departments of the government in 2023-24.
Of the total candidates recommended for Group-A Group-B posts of the state government in 2022-23, as many as 1510 candidates were women, representing 40% of the successful candidates. Total 389 candidates belonged to SC category and 443 to ST.
Besides the recruitment, the Commission had approved 2,650 promotions for 17 departments and disposed of 286 disciplinary proceedings during the year. The OPSC will celebrate 75th year in 2023-24.
