Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Friday extended the tenure of the Commission of Inquiry probing the alleged gang rape of a minor girl in Kunduli for the second time to another three months.

A notification to this effect was issued by the Home Department.

The minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by four men in uniform inside the forest in Kunduli area on October 10 last year. The victim later committed suicide in her house at her native village in Musaguda in Koraput district on January 22 this year. The incident had led to widespread protests in the district.

As a result, the state government had constituted a Commission of Inquiry on December 26 last year led by the Koraput District Judge to probe into the sequence of events that led to the purported crime, the person(s) responsible for the incident and any other matter connected with the incident.

The Commission was asked to submit the probe report to the government in three months. Upon its failure to do so, the state government had extended its tenure to another three months on March 27 this year.
